Foreword
Hello, on behalf of Asgard i'd like to welcome everyone to our first tournament for the whole community!
I'd like to think we are among the most skilled in this aspect, our clan has completed over 25 successful tournaments on a variety of maps with several different formats, and we have also participated in two successful clan matches. As well as this - Ragnj - who is a member of the Asgard council has gained a well earned reputation as the most successful community tournament organiser with his 'God of...' series.
Please don't buttonbash reply straight away with 'OMG IM IN!!!', if you don't have the attention span to read this whole post then you won't be participating in our tournament!
The Format
This tournament will be played in a world cup style, with 16 (or 32 depending on interest) participants starting off in groups of four, playing everyone in their group twice each. The resulting top two in each group will then go on to play in the knockout stage and/or quarter-finals, semi-finals and ultimately the final to decide the tournament winner. The quarter finals, semi-finals and the final will work on a 'best out of 3 wins' basis.
The Map
The level the tournament will take place on is named Valhallah, and can be found as the only 3 player map in Asgard Worlds. This map is the only true shaman skills tournament map I am aware of, where the host (and referee) controls the game whilst red and yellow battle it out over an arena style landscape using blast, ghost army, lightning and tornado aiming for one goal - shaman kills. The first to ten shaman kills wins the match, which usually takes around 15 - 20 minutes.
As a clan we have had two very succesful tournaments on this map, with MentiX the current reigning champion after winning the second tournament, preceeded by the first (which resulted in a victory for yours truly).
Here is a bit of info about the map taken from our website:
Asgard Worlds can be downloaded here.
Alternatively, Windows Vista users can download the level and header files here. for manual installation - labelled as 'levl2127' to replace Craters in the basic maps.
Tournament Applications - READ HERE
update: TOURNAMENT IS NOW FULL, although still accepting applications for RESERVE places
numbers are designated by signup order, groups and knockout round matchups will then be selected at random[/size]
!important! - all players participating need to provide a contact email address

Explanation (taken from the first tournament thread)All players wishing to participate should now take a look at this page - http://www.clanasgard.co.uk/pages/valhallah.htm - where screenshots etc can be found
Basically as soon as you incarnate, you get 100 men to patrol for mana. Blue hosts, and judges the game from his umpire-ish CoR, whilst Red and Yellow walk to the end of their strips. (There is a fire to stand by incase you get cold). Instant reincarnation is available by killing the spare shaman at the start of the game.
Once Blue says 'go!', Red and Yellow battle to the death with Blast, Ghost Army, Lightning, and Tornado. Once victorious, the winning shaman must retreat back to his fire, and wait for the loser to incarnate and reach the other fire. Both players must then wait for a 'go' for the next round to begin.
First to 10 enemy shaman kills wins! The score can be checked by looking at the stats page - 's' in game. The losing player at the end must use the swamps behind his CoR for a handy genocide.
Rules
1. Both players must ally Blue as soon as the game commences. Blue must ally both players.
2. Blue cannot declare 'go' until both players reach their fire.
3. Once you have entered the arena, you cannot dodge back past your fire onto your strip, if you do this counts as a death.
4. No other spells except Blast, Ghost Army, Tornado and Lightning can be used. These should be kept off by blue. (restrictions are preset in header for your convenience)
5. Any left over ghosts at the end of a round must be cleared from the arena and sent back past your fire. They can be re-used in the next round, but sent in at the same time or after your shaman, not before Blue says 'go'.
6. No spells can be cast before Blue declares 'go'. Once you see 'go', feel free to stay by your fire and cast Ghost Army or whatever floats your boat, but you are not allowed to retreat back past your fire at ANY TIME.
7. In the event of a draw (simulataneous death), both players are awarded a point.
8. If the score reaches 9-9 and another draw-death occurs, players play first until 11,12,13 and so on.
Asgard Worlds can be downloaded here.
Alternatively, Windows Vista users can download the level and header files here. for manual installation - labelled as 'levl2127' to replace Craters in the basic maps.

What clan tournaments / clan matches / community tournaments have you participated in before? Well i took part in (correct me if im wrong) 2 tournaments in AsG: ToL tourny and the Civil War. One tournament while in TDM. Took part of Gods of Pressure Point tournament. No clan matches.
What were your resulting standings in these tournaments?

Hello I would like to participate in the Shaman Skills Cup (SSC)
What clan tournaments / clan matches / community tournaments have you participated in before?- Trees of life (organised by AsG in the interclan matches)
What were your resulting standings in these tournaments? I think the tournament ceased to continue due to lack of activity
Have you ever been removed from / dropped out of any tournaments, if so why?
I'm not sure if I was removed but I believe I must of unintentially dropped out of the AsG tournament due to others also

Very nice idea guys, hopefully this will be a successful tournament! ^_^
What clan tournaments / clan matches / community tournaments have you participated in before?
I've only been in one tournament so far, GoD's Craters In-Clan Tournament.
I gotta be honest, i was never a big fan of tournaments, but i like em a lot more nowadays.
What were your resulting standings in these tournaments?
I lost in the first round against spartan >.> I was rusty i believe (lol).
Have you ever been removed from / dropped out of any tournaments, if so why?
I signed up for a tournament but never really got to play my game because my enemy never showed up at the same time i did, and we just didnt find a comon time to be on.. Sadly that tournament died due to the fact that most people didn't play their games..
A good thing about this tournament is that it is quite easier to get the games going on, doesn't take a lot of time, doesn't take that much effort.. we'll planned out.

Well, back in Asgard I participated in a large amount of tournaments, and since ive participated in Two GoG tournaments
What were your resulting standings in these tournaments?
I can't account for most Asgard tournaments, but im sure you can look that up for me. In the two GoG tournaments I placed tied last both times. Although I do feel ive improved since

I don't think ive ever been dropped from a tournament before. Many a time I have replaced an inactive player though.
Thankies,

how do i get a guarantee your not gonna suddenly decide to go through a 'it's cool to be inactive then you can come back in be remembered' phase?
